Since 1989, CALVIN & FRIENDS have been entertaining audiences throughout the southeast with their unique blend of World Music including Reggae, Latin, Rock, and Old Skool Funk.
Led by the enigmatic entertainer Calvin Hunter, CALVIN & FRIENDS began as a 1 show only project bringing together an ecclectic mix of local musicians in Columbia, SC...at the time inclduing Jim Sonifeld, Drummer of HOOTIE & THE BLOWFISH.
Throughout the years, many wonderful musicians have Collaborated with Calvin including members from: THE ROOT DOCTORS, THRESHOLD, JAMIE LEE HART, DEANNA CARTER, HOOTIE & THE BLOWFISH, TREADMILL TRACKSTAR, AND DANIELLE HOWE AND THE TANTRUMS. Over the years, Calvin's energetic live performances created a legacy of some of the best live shows ever!
Residing in Charlotte, N.C., The provacative Entertainer that he is, Calvin was most recently seen on MTV AND VH-1's shows "With the Band". He's also the lead vocalist, emcee, comedian, and world class latin percussionist.
Calving has peformed with many National and International acts including MOJA NYA, HOOTIE & THE BLOWFISH, ROBERT NEWTON, JOHN BLACKWELL(The Drummer for Prince), THE OTHER PEOPLE, JUPITER COYOTE, A SIGN OF THE TIMES BIG BAND, TOOTIE & THE JONES, and many more.
Since their critically acclaimed debut CD, "LOVE", and their regional hit "HIPPIE GIRL", CALVIN & FRIENDS have been busy performing and preparing songs for their next album.
